| Building Committee Works with site selection committee to choose area in which to work and type of construction. Deals with house design, material, and amenities for the work. Develops construction plan and cost estimates. |
| Site Selection Committee Defines the area/neighborhood and works to acquire building sites within it. Recommends property for acquisition to the board. |
| Development Committee Implements public relations and fund-raising policies of board of directors. Organizes publicity events and develops newsletters and other publications. Recognizes supporters and volunteers. |
| Family Selection Committee Defines population in need of decent, affordable housing and develops processes and policies for selecting those in greatest need. Committee must be fair, objective, and nondiscriminatory. |
| Family Nurture Committee Serves as liaison between affiliate and partner families. Helps families manage problems of low income, lack of education, improper nutrition and health care, lack of transportation, debts, low self=esteem and frustrations by providing them with a support system, educational opportunities, and a forum for discussions. |
| Safety Committee Ensures that the affiliate follows good safety practices at all building sites. |
| Nominating Committee Recruits new candidates for board of directors and committees. (Bringing new people into the organization is critical to sustaining the affiliate.) |
| Volunteer Committee Provides coordination for hosting outside work camps; orgnizes food, first aid, and hospitality on the work site; and plans an annual volunteer appreciation event. |
